What we offer in Colorado

We quote any truckload into Colorado. Most of what we deliver there goes to the Denver area and the Front Range in 53 foot dry vans, and we also arrange power only moves when you supply the trailer. Our loads come in two ways: north from the El Paso area, where we already run trucks every week, and east from Southern California. More about the trailer is on the dry van trucking page.

Partner carriers haul most of our Colorado freight, with our own trucks on some moves. Before a partner gets a load, we check its operating authority, insurance and identity through Highway. Then we track the truck to delivery and send you the signed paperwork, the same as on any load we cover ourselves.

From El Paso up Interstate 25

From the El Paso area of west Texas it is about 720 miles north on Interstate 25, through Las Cruces, Albuquerque and Santa Fe, then over Raton Pass into Colorado at about 7,800 feet. More on that market is on the El Paso page.

For one driver that is a long day of driving plus a rest break, so a load that picks up in the morning normally delivers in the Denver area the next day.

From Southern California over the Rockies

From the Inland Empire it is roughly 1,000 miles. The direct route is Interstate 15 north through Las Vegas into Utah, then Interstate 70 east across the San Rafael Swell and over the Rockies to Denver. With one driver that is a two to three day trip.

Mountain passes and the chain law

Interstate 70 crosses the Continental Divide at the Eisenhower Tunnel, above 11,000 feet, and climbs Vail Pass on the way. Colorado requires commercial vehicles on Interstate 70 between Dotsero and Morrison to carry chains from September through May, and winter storms can close the road for hours.

We plan Colorado trips around that. When the mountain route is a problem, trucks can go around through Wyoming on Interstate 80, or through New Mexico on Interstate 40 and Interstate 25, at the cost of extra miles, and we build that into the timing rather than set a delivery the road may not allow.

Booking a Colorado load

Colorado loads are planned one at a time, so a few days of notice helps. Colorado is on Mountain Time, one hour ahead of California, so please give appointment times in local time.

Our Colorado work so far has been deliveries into the state. For a pickup in Colorado, send the details and we will quote it case by case. We have no office or yard in Colorado, and every load is dispatched from Covina, California. Nearby coverage: New Mexico and Utah.

Questions shippers ask

Do you ship freight to Denver?
Yes. We quote any truckload into Colorado, and most of our Colorado loads deliver in the Denver area, in dry vans from the El Paso area and from Southern California.
How long does freight take from El Paso to Denver?
It is about 720 miles on Interstate 25, which one driver normally covers by the next day.
Can you pick up freight in Colorado?
Yes, send the details and we will quote it. So far our Colorado work has been deliveries into the state, so outbound loads are planned case by case.
Do winter chain laws affect a Colorado delivery?
They can. From September through May, commercial vehicles on Interstate 70 between Dotsero and Morrison must carry chains, and storms can close the mountain passes. We plan the route and the timing around that.
