What full truckload means when you ship with us
A full truckload is one shipper, one trailer and one trip. Your freight is the only freight on the truck, so it is loaded once at the pickup and unloaded once at the delivery. Nothing is transferred between terminals on the way, which is why truckload is the usual choice for freight that fills most of a trailer or has to stay sealed.
Truckload is nearly all of what we do. In our dispatch records for January through September 2026, the typical load weighed between 20,000 and 45,000 pounds and had a single pickup and a single delivery. About one load in sixteen had an extra stop, so if you need to pick up at two docks or deliver to two receivers, tell us and we will plan it into the same truck.
Equipment we run
Most of our truckloads move in 53 foot dry vans. That is the trailer our own fleet pulls, and it is the most common trailer among the partner carriers we use. See dry van trucking for what fits and how we cover it.
Open deck freight moves on flatbeds through partner carriers. Our flatbed trucking page explains where we run it most. If you already have a loaded trailer and only need a tractor and driver, that is power only trucking. And if your dock needs a trailer left on site to load or unload on your own schedule, read about our drop trailer service.
Our own trucks and our partner carriers
Lifetime Logistics is both a freight broker and a trucking operation. We dispatch our own fleet of trucks and 53 foot trailers out of Southern California, and we also hold broker authority (USDOT 3711199, MC 1302550) so we can put your load on another carrier when that is the better fit for the lane or the date.
Over the first nine months of 2026, roughly a quarter of our loads rode on our own trucks and the rest went to partner carriers. If it matters to you which one hauls your load, say so when you ask for the quote. Every partner carrier is checked through Highway, a carrier identity and compliance service, before we tender a load to them.
Where we run truckloads
Our home market is Southern California. The heaviest volume is in the Inland Empire and Los Angeles, followed by the Central Valley, Phoenix, Salinas and Las Vegas. We also run regular longer trips to Utah, Idaho, Oregon, Washington, New Mexico and west Texas.
The full list of states and markets, with how often we run each one, is on the service areas page.
What we need to quote a truckload
- Pickup city or ZIP code and delivery city or ZIP code
- Pickup date, and whether the pickup and delivery are by appointment or first come, first served
- Trailer type: dry van, flatbed or power only
- Total weight, and piece or pallet count if you have it
- What the freight is, and anything the driver should know about loading or unloading
Questions shippers ask
- How much freight do I need to book a full truckload?
- There is no minimum. Most of the truckloads we move weigh between 20,000 and 45,000 pounds, but shippers also book a full truck for lighter freight that fills the trailer by volume, that cannot be stacked, or that needs to travel alone.
- Will my truckload be on your truck or another carrier?
- It depends on the lane and the date. About a quarter of our loads in 2026 moved on our own trucks and the rest on partner carriers. Every partner carrier is vetted through Highway first.
- What affects the price of a full truckload?
- Distance, trailer type, weight, how much notice we have, how busy the lane is that week, fuel, and extras such as added stops or long waits at the dock. We do not post rates because they change with the market. Send the quote form and we will give you a price for your specific load.
- Can you handle a truckload with more than one stop?
- Yes. Most of our loads are one pickup and one delivery, but we regularly run loads with an extra pickup or delivery. Give us every address and the order you want them in when you ask for the quote.
