Phoenix is an outbound market for us

Nearly nine in ten of the Phoenix loads in our records for January through September 2026 were picking up in the valley and leaving Arizona. That is the opposite of how many carriers see Phoenix, which is widely known as a market that takes in more freight than it ships. For a Phoenix shipper it means we are arranging trucks out of the valley every week.

It is also our most mixed market by trailer type. A little under six loads in ten were dry van, more than a third were flatbed, and the rest were power only.

Where Phoenix loads go

The busiest lane is Phoenix to the Inland Empire, a few loads a week and about 330 miles on Interstate 10. More than half of those are dropped trailers at the receiver. Another load a week goes on to the Los Angeles area. Both directions of that corridor are covered on our Los Angeles to Phoenix page.

Flatbeds leave Phoenix on two steady lanes. About one a week goes to the San Diego area on Interstate 8, and about one a week goes to the Salinas Valley and Central Coast, close to 700 miles.

Dry vans also run north. Phoenix to Las Vegas is about one load a week, roughly 290 miles on US 93. About one load a month goes to the Coachella and Imperial valleys.

Freight coming into Phoenix

Inbound is lighter but steady, about one load a week from the Inland Empire. Those eastbound loads are more often on our own trucks, and many are same day deliveries when they pick up early.

Loading in a Phoenix summer

From June through September, afternoon temperatures in Phoenix regularly pass 105 degrees, and the inside of a closed dry van gets a good deal hotter than the air outside. If your freight can be damaged by heat, such as adhesives, candles, some plastics or pallets wrapped in film that loosens, schedule the pickup for early morning and tell us when you request the quote, so the loaded trailer is not left sitting in the sun.

Carriers and coverage in Arizona

Most Phoenix loads, about five in six, moved with partner carriers in 2026. Nearly all of the flatbed work did. Our own trucks show up mainly on the dry van loads between Phoenix and the Inland Empire. Each partner carrier is vetted through Highway before we dispatch them.

Most pickups are in the city of Phoenix itself. We also quote the west valley along Interstate 10, including Tolleson, Goodyear and Buckeye, as well as Mesa, Tempe, Chandler and the rest of the metro area.

We do not have an office, a yard or staff in Arizona. Dispatch for every Phoenix load is handled from Covina, California.

Questions shippers ask

Do you have trucks leaving Phoenix every week?
Yes. We moved several loads a week out of the Phoenix area from January through September 2026, and we had Phoenix loads in nearly every week of that period.
Can you cover flatbed loads from Phoenix?
Yes. Phoenix is our largest flatbed origin. The loads are hauled by partner carriers we vet through Highway, most often to San Diego County and to the Salinas Valley.
How long does freight take from Phoenix to Los Angeles?
The trip is about 370 miles on Interstate 10. A load picked up in the morning normally delivers the next day, and sometimes the same evening if the receiver is open late.
Why do Phoenix rates change so much through the year?
Phoenix receives more freight than it ships, so the number of empty trucks looking for a load out swings with the season. Rates also move with fuel and with how much notice we have. We quote each load at the time you ship.
