A round trip our own drivers run

Idaho is the clearest example of a lane we run ourselves. Of the loads we moved in the state from January through September 2026, all but one were hauled by our own trucks.

In our records it looks like a round trip, with freight in both directions. A truck takes a load north to the Boise area, then reloads in the Magic Valley for the trip home. About six Idaho loads in ten were deliveries and four in ten were pickups.

Northbound to Boise

Deliveries to Boise and the Treasure Valley ran a couple of times a month, from the Inland Empire. Most were 53 foot dry vans and a few were power only. We also delivered to Meridian and Nampa, and a handful of times to Idaho Falls, Twin Falls and the north of the state.

The trip is about 850 miles. Drivers go up Interstate 15 through Las Vegas and Salt Lake City and then west on Interstate 84, or they take US 93 north through eastern Nevada to Twin Falls. Either way it is a two day trip for one driver. Boise is about 130 miles from Twin Falls on Interstate 84, roughly two hours, which is what lets one truck deliver in the Treasure Valley and reload in the Magic Valley the same day.

Southbound from the Magic Valley

The return loads pick up in the Magic Valley, the farming and food processing region around Twin Falls along Interstate 84. They are dry vans, and most deliver in the San Gabriel Valley east of Los Angeles, about 760 miles away.

We ran that lane a couple of times a month in 2026. A few other loads came from farther east on the Snake River Plain toward the Inland Empire.

Why this matters for your quote

When we quote Idaho, there is a good chance the truck is ours. That means one company handles the load from start to finish, the driver is our employee or contractor, and you can ask us directly where the truck is.

It also means capacity is limited to our fleet on some weeks. If our trucks are already committed, we will tell you, and offer a partner carrier vetted through Highway as the alternative.

Seasons on the route

Winter is the main risk. Interstate 84 across southern Idaho and Interstate 15 through Utah see snow and high wind closures, and US 93 crosses long empty stretches of Nevada with few services. From November through March it is wise to allow an extra half day on Idaho trips when storms are forecast.

Idaho is split between two time zones. Boise and the Magic Valley are on Mountain Time, an hour ahead of California. We have no office or yard in Idaho, and loads are dispatched from Covina, California. For nearby states see Utah and Oregon.
