San Jose as a freight market

San Jose is the largest city in the Bay Area and the center of Silicon Valley, and its freight is unlike any other California city's. The valley makes and moves semiconductor manufacturing equipment, electronics, servers and the components that go into them: high value, shock sensitive, often crated and often in need of a padded van rather than a flatbed. It is also home to one of the densest data center clusters in the country, concentrated in Santa Clara, which means a steady flow of racks, cooling equipment and electrical gear into buildings that are already running.

There is no seaport in San Jose; the valley's ocean freight comes through Oakland, and the smaller Port of Redwood City on the bay handles bulk. Air cargo moves through San Jose's airport and through San Francisco's. The highways are US 101 the length of the valley, Interstate 880 and Interstate 680 north to the East Bay, Interstate 280 to San Francisco, State Route 17 over the hills to Santa Cruz, and State Route 152 east over Pacheco Pass to Interstate 5. The Union Pacific line runs through the valley, and the industrial districts are north San Jose and Alviso by the bay, the Santa Clara and Sunnyvale manufacturing belt, Milpitas and Fremont to the north, and Morgan Hill and Gilroy in the farm country to the south.

What our records show here

Our records here are thin, and we say so. From the start of 2026 through September we delivered two loads in the San Jose area, a dry van and a box truck, both into the peninsula side of the valley, with partner carriers. Our Bay Area freight has run through Oakland, the East Bay and San Francisco more than through Silicon Valley, so we quote San Jose load by load rather than from a standing lane.

For the equipment the valley moves, that is often the right way to quote anyway: a crated tool or a set of loaded racks is a dedicated move with its own handling plan, not a lane load. We bring the same things to it that we bring to every load: a carrier vetted through Highway, one point of contact, tracking from pickup to delivery, and a plan for both ends.

Getting to San Jose

San Jose is about 340 miles from central Los Angeles. The fast way is Interstate 5 over the Grapevine and up the valley to State Route 152, then west over Pacheco Pass and up US 101; the scenic way is US 101 the whole length of the Central Coast through Salinas. Either is about five and a half to six hours of driving, inside one shift, so an early pickup can deliver the same evening and a normal load delivers the next morning. The 101 through the valley is congested in both rush hours, and a delivery window between ten and two is kinder to the driver.

To Oakland it is about 40 miles up the 880, to San Francisco about 50 miles up the 101 or the 280, to Sacramento about 120 miles, and to the Salinas Valley about 60 miles down the 101, all same day moves.

Equipment we run to San Jose

Air ride dry vans for crated equipment, electronics and loaded racks, which is the trailer our own fleet pulls; flatbeds and step decks for the chillers, generators and switchgear that the data centers need; and power only for shippers with trailers of their own. Semiconductor tools and other shock sensitive equipment ship in padded vans with blankets, straps and often an impact recorder, and inside delivery to a clean room or a data hall is arranged through partners. Flatbed loads go to partner carriers we vet through Highway. We do not list refrigerated service or container drayage.

Local notes

Valley deliveries are to campuses more than to warehouses: a security gate, a check in, a loading dock shared by several buildings, and a receiving team that expects a scheduled window. Give us the dock, the window and the contact with the quote. Many of the newer buildings in north San Jose and Santa Clara were built for trucks, but the older manufacturing streets in Sunnyvale and Mountain View were not, and 53 foot trailers do not fit everywhere. Bridge tolls apply to trucks entering the valley from the East Bay and the peninsula.

Our only office is in Covina, California; nothing of ours is based in Santa Clara County.

Data center and AI infrastructure freight

Santa Clara's data center cluster is one of the largest in the country, and the racks, cooling plant, switchgear and generators for it are the freight our data center freight section describes, including server rack shipping in air ride vans and inside delivery through partners.

Questions shippers ask

How often do you run freight in San Jose?
Rarely so far: two deliveries in our records for January through September 2026. We quote the area load by load, which suits the dedicated equipment moves the valley sends anyway.
How long does a truckload take from Los Angeles to San Jose?
About 340 miles and five and a half to six hours of driving by Interstate 5 and State Route 152 or by US 101, so an early pickup can deliver the same evening and a normal load delivers the next morning.
Can you move semiconductor equipment or loaded server racks to Santa Clara?
Yes. They ship in air ride vans with blankets, straps and corner protection, and inside delivery to a clean room or a data hall is arranged through partners. Tell us the dimensions, weights and the handling plan the manufacturer requires.
Do you serve Fremont, Milpitas and Gilroy?
Yes. Silicon Valley from Fremont and Milpitas in the north to Morgan Hill and Gilroy in the south is one market for us.
