Oxnard as a freight market

Oxnard is the industrial center of Ventura County and the home of the only deep water commercial port between Los Angeles and the San Francisco Bay. The Port of Hueneme, at the south edge of the city, is a specialist port: imported cars and trucks roll off ships there by the hundreds of thousands a year, fresh fruit arrives from Central and South America, and project cargo and offshore supply vessels use it as well. The Navy base beside it is the largest employer on the coast. The Union Pacific coast line runs through Oxnard with a spur to the port, and US 101 passes along the north side of the city on its way between Los Angeles and Santa Barbara.

Around the city is the Oxnard Plain, some of the most productive farmland in the state, growing strawberries, celery, lemons and vegetables, with the packing houses and cold storage that serve it. Camarillo, east of Oxnard on the 101, has an airport business park and manufacturers; Ventura to the north has oil, technology and the county government; Santa Paula up the Santa Clara River valley on State Route 126 is citrus country; and Simi Valley and Moorpark on State Route 118 are the county's eastern industrial towns, closer to the San Fernando Valley than to the coast.

What our records show here

We will be plain about this: Ventura County is a market we can serve well and have barely touched. Between January and September 2026 our records show a single flatbed delivery in Santa Paula, with a partner carrier. The county is an hour from Los Angeles and an easy reach for the trucks we keep in the Los Angeles basin, but our freight has run east and north from there far more than northwest up the coast.

So we quote Oxnard load by load, and we are glad to. What we bring is a fleet based in Southern California, partner carriers vetted through Highway, and one point of contact from the quote to the proof of delivery. When your Ventura County freight ships on a set pattern, give us the lane, how often it moves and the dock hours, and we will tell you what coverage we can offer.

From the Los Angeles area

Oxnard is about 60 miles from central Los Angeles on US 101 through the San Fernando Valley and the Conejo Grade, and about 75 miles from our office in Covina. It is a same day move, and the drive is about an hour and a half outside the rush hours; the 101 through the valley is slow in both. State Route 126 is the inland route from the Santa Clarita area and Interstate 5 to Santa Paula and Ventura, and State Route 118 connects Simi Valley and Moorpark to the San Fernando Valley. From the Inland Empire the trip is about 110 miles, still a same day move.

North from Oxnard, US 101 continues to Santa Barbara, the Central Coast and the Salinas Valley, about 230 miles, a same day or next day move, and on to the Bay Area.

Equipment we run to Oxnard

Dry vans for the packaging, supplies, manufactured goods and distribution freight, flatbeds for the port's project cargo, the construction trades and the farm equipment dealers, and power only for shippers that own their trailers. Our own fleet is 53 foot dry vans; flatbeds come from partner carriers we vet before every load. Refrigerated service is not something we list, so the strawberries and vegetables that leave the plain in reefers are not freight we quote, and neither port drayage nor vehicle transport is on our list.

Seasonal and local notes

Harvest on the Oxnard Plain runs much of the year, with the spring strawberry peak the busiest, and the cold storage docks are crowded then. The port's vehicle and fruit traffic runs year round. Weather is mild, but the Conejo Grade on the 101 is steep enough to slow a loaded truck, and winter storms close State Route 126 and the coast highway now and then. Oxnard enforces truck routes around the port and the residential neighborhoods, and the farm roads on the plain are narrow, so the exact dock and approach instructions help.

There is no Lifetime Logistics yard or office in Ventura County. Dispatch happens in Covina.

Data center and heavy equipment freight

Project cargo through the Port of Hueneme and the equipment for the county's plants and utility projects move on flatbeds and lowboys, and the Conejo Grade and the 101 corridor are a known route for permitted loads. The data center freight section covers how we move transformers, generators and modules and arrange the permits they need.

Questions shippers ask

How often do you run freight in Oxnard?
Rarely so far: one delivery in Ventura County in our records for January through September 2026. We quote the area load by load, and our own trucks are based within an hour and a half of it.
Do you pick up at the Port of Hueneme?
We do not list port drayage or vehicle transport. We pick up truckloads at the warehouses and transload facilities around the port once the freight is on a trailer.
How long does a truckload take from Los Angeles to Oxnard?
About 60 miles on US 101 and an hour and a half of driving outside the rush hours, so it is a same day move.
Do you serve Simi Valley and Moorpark?
Yes. They are the east end of Ventura County on State Route 118, closer to the San Fernando Valley than to the coast, and they are a same day move from anywhere in the Los Angeles basin.
